Dear whomever this may concern at The Analysis Press,
Hi I work for Assurance an independent insurance broker and I have personally seen how the economy has been affected and the role corporations have played in today's world. The government has made many decisions to help stop the United States from hitting an all-time low, with a crashing economy. Since the beginning of the movement, many supporters have been claiming that the bail out of banks was the most ridiculous move the government could have done. But in reality it was a risky, but important move to make; simply because most
of the wealth in this country is invested in the banks. I understand that people are struggling to survive and don't understand why the banks got more human rights than the citizens. But think about it this way if the banks were never bailed out, everybody would have severely lost out and our economy would have completely crashed. Supporters of the Occupy movement needs to realize that the money in these banks are the foundation of our country; no money no country. Many Occupy supporters believe that this move just put us further into debt and
this is true; but new jobs are being created to help pay off this debt "Accenture, for one, recently announced plans to add 500 jobs at its Loop
offices over the next twelve months, an increase of10%" (Strahler) and "Chicago based boutiques Huron Consulting Inc. are hiring too" (Strahler). This is proof that the Illinois government and corporations are trying to help the citizens as much as possible and get them back to work. Now one thing Occupy supporters may say is "why is this our debt to pay" and if you think about it a lot of money comes from the taxes citizens pay; so with that said the government needs the citizens to be patient and cooperate so we can get our country back on its feet. Another thing is that the citizens aren’t the only ones struggling to get by "Sears Holiday Corp. is heading into the holiday selling season with less cash and more debt than any time since the hedge-fund manager took over in 2005" (Sweeney). So understand Occupy protesters that everybody is hurting, just the greedy politicians are the ones to go after. Another thing people need to realize is that are unemployment rate is not as bad as it has been in the past; "in 1933 it was 24.9%" (Answers.com). So truly we are not in that much of a mess and this is something we can definitely get over, if back in the Great Depression, if they were able to recover.
Sincerely,
